¿Pensando en comprar una tabla de surf? ¿Sabes que características tienes que tener en cuenta a la hora de elegir la que más te conviene? Entonces debes de seguir leyendo este artículo
Existen multitud de modelos de tablas de surf en función del estilo, las formas, el tamaño, el material, etc. Aunque es el tamaño y las dimensiones de la tabla de surf lo que definirá el resto de características. Vamos a ver en qué elementos básicos debemos fijarnos:
- Anchura. Es la superficie que recorre la tabla de lado a lado. Esto es importante tenerlo en cuenta dependiendo de la experiencia que tengamos, si estas empezando en este deporte os recomendamos una tabla de surf más ancha ya que permite una mayor estabilidad, mientras que una tabla más estrecha la suelen usar los más experimentados ya que permite una facilidad de maniobra.
- Longitud. Es la superficie que recorre la tabla de punta a punta, y se mide generalmente en pies o pulgadas. Al igual que la anchura esta permite dar estabilidad cuanto más larga sea la tabla de surf, con el inconveniente de que dificulta la maniobra. Ocurre lo contrario con las tablas más cortas, dificulta la estabilidad de la tabla pero la manejabilidad se hace más cómoda.
- Grosor. Esto es el volumen de la superficie de la tabla, lo fina o gruesa que sea. Del mismo modo influye en la estabilidad y la maniobra de la tabla de surf.
- Rocker. También llamado balancín, hace referencia a la curvatura de la tabla de surf. En función de esto la tabla podrá ser más lenta o más ágil. En caso de surfistas novatos es preferible que la tabla de surf tenga menos curvatura ya que permitirá un mejor aprendizaje.
Podríamos decir que estos son los elementos más característicos de una tabla de surf, aunque no nos podemos olvidar de la forma de los cantos, las quillas (aletas traseras) o de la cola. Esto último es característico de los distintos tipos de tablas que existen: Fish, Shortboard, Evolutiva, Hibridas, Gun, Funboard y Longboard.

There are a multitude of models of surfboards depending on the style, shapes, size, material, etc. Although it is the size and dimensions of the surfboard that will define the rest of the characteristics. Let’s see what basic elements we should look at:
- Width. It is the surface that runs the table from side to side. This is important to take into account depending on the experience we have, if you are starting in this sport we recommend a wider surfboard because it allows greater stability, while a narrower table is usually used by more experienced because it allows a ease of maneuver.
- Length. It is the surface that runs through the board from end to end, and is usually measured in feet or inches. Like the width this allows to give stability the longer the surfboard, with the inconvenience that makes the maneuver difficult. The opposite happens with the shorter tables, it hinders the stability of the table but the manageability becomes more comfortable.
- Thickness. This is the volume of the surface of the table, how thin or thick it is. It also influences the stability and maneuver of the surfboard.
- Rocker. Also called rocker, it refers to the curvature of the surfboard. Depending on this the table may be slower or more agile. In case of novice surfers it is preferable that the surfboard has less curvature since it will allow a better learning.
We could say that these are the most characteristic elements, although we cannot forget the shape of the songs, the keels (rear fins) or the tail. This last one is characteristic of the different types of tables that exist: Fish, Short board, Evolutionary, Hybrids, Gun, Fun board and Long board.
