Best waves Maldives

Discover the best waves in the Maldives in the North Malé Atoll, which gives its name to the capital of the Maldives.

Its reef picks up swells well with westerly winds. The famous Jailbreaks wave is located just a 10-minute walk from our camp. It gives us the possibility of surfing on foot along the reef, which is easily accessible.

Wave Jail's

Jail's

Wave from the island of Himmafushi, located on the east coast of North Malé Atoll. It is a fast and straight with 3 sections on its optimal days. Its inside is very fast and quite hollow. It is one of the most constant waves in the area. It works best with southwesterly winds, which are most common during the surfing season. It is a very good wave whatever its size and it withstands the big swell well.

Wave Honky's

Honky's

This wave is located on the uninhabited island of Thamburudhoo, next to Sultan's. It is a long left that starts small and grows in size and intensity as it wraps around the island. A wave over 1.80 metres at take-off can finish at more than 2.40 metres in the final section. It is a very long wave with barrels. Surf it on a rising mid tide or a falling high tide.

Wave Sultan's

Sultan's

Located on the uninhabited island of Thamburudhoo, this is an excellent, long, world-class right. It is one of the most consistent waves in North Malé Atoll and never closes out, even in large swells. Take-off is from an outside peak called Ghosts, leading into a long, manoeuvrable wall. It usually breaks in two sections, with spectacular barrels in the final one. The ride is 100 to 150 metres long and works best with west or north winds.

Wave Coke's

Coke's

Located on Thulusdhoo Island, on the east coast of North Malé Atoll, this wave offers a short but intense ride and a powerful barrel. Take-off is friendly in the first section, but the last section requires care because there is little water over the reef and a heavy barrel forms. It works best at mid or high tide, although it can be surfed at low tide when the swell is large enough. A south swell with a northwest wind is ideal; west and north winds can also work.

Wave Chicken's

Chicken's

Villingilimathi Huraa (Kuda Villingili) is an island with a private resort that keeps public access to the wave. It breaks over the reef on the eastern side of North Malé Atoll. It is an excellent, fast, long left with two sections. Perfect conditions are needed to connect them. The best winds are northwest and north-northwest, blowing offshore.

Wave Ninja's

Ninja's

This wave breaks on the outer reef of Kanifinolhu Resort in North Malé Atoll. It is a slow right, ideal for beginners and longboards. It has two sections and a fairly shallow inside that can produce excellent barrels. It works best with west or northwest winds and a moderate swell.
